Overview
Planning meetings allow leadership teams to step back and focus on the bigger picture. In EOS One, you can easily schedule these sessions, customize the agenda based on the planning cycle, and link essential data like your V/TO and L10 meetings.
Prerequisites: You must have a Level 10 (L10) meeting and a Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO) before creating an Annual or Quarterly meeting.
Steps to Schedule a Planning Meeting
Navigate to the Meetings section. You can do this by clicking the + icon on the Meetings dashboard widget or by selecting Create Meeting on the Meetings page.
Select EOS Planning from the available Meeting Type options.
Choose your Planning Type: select either Quarterly Planning or Annual Planning. Notice that the agenda on the right side of the screen updates automatically based on your selection.
Add the appropriate Attendees to the meeting.
Enter a descriptive Meeting Name.
Set the First Meeting & Schedule by selecting a date and start time.
Configure the Planning Meeting Settings:
Pair with L10 Meeting: Select the relevant Level 10 meeting from the dropdown menu.
Connect to V/TO: Choose the Vision/Traction Organizer associated with this team.
Link Org Checkup: This step is optional and can be skipped if not needed.
Click the Create Meeting button at the bottom of the form.
Conducting and Rescheduling
Once created, you can access the meeting by clicking "Join." The system will guide you through the full agenda: from the initial Segue and Rock Review to the final Conclusion. During the Conclude step of the meeting, you will have the opportunity to schedule the next quarterly or annual session immediately.
Q&A
Why does the agenda change when I switch between Quarterly and Annual types?
The system automatically adjusts the duration and specific agenda items to align with EOS best practices for each meeting type. Annual planning typically includes more extensive reviews and longer time blocks than quarterly sessions.
Can I create a planning meeting without an existing L10 meeting?
No, you must select an existing L10 meeting to pair with the planning session. This ensures that data like Rocks and Issues flow correctly between your weekly and quarterly sessions.
