User Roles: Overview and How to Use Them

User roles determine what each person can access and manage within EOS One.

What User Roles Are

User roles help control organization-level permissions in EOS One. Roles can be managed from the People page in Settings.

View or Update User Roles

  1. Click your profile picture or initials in the upper-right corner of EOS One.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Under Company, click People.

  4. Locate the user you want to update.

  5. Select the appropriate role from the role dropdown.

User Role Types

Owner

The Owner is the creator of the organization.

Owners can:

  • Manage billing and subscriptions

  • Add and remove users

  • Update user roles

  • Grant Billing Access

  • Create, edit, and publish Accountability Chart drafts

  • View meetings and meeting items across the organization through Insights

There can only be one Owner per organization.

Admin

Admins help manage the organization.

Admins can:

  • Add and remove users

  • Update user roles

  • Grant Billing Access

  • Create, edit, and publish Accountability Chart drafts

  • View meetings and meeting items across the organization through Insights

Manager

Managers typically oversee teams within the organization.

Managers can:

  • Invite users with the Manager, Member, or Free Observer role

  • Create Process Documents

  • View or edit Accountability Chart drafts when granted access

Managers cannot:

  • Create Accountability Chart drafts

  • Publish Accountability Charts

  • View the "All Meetings" tab

  • See all meeting items in the organization in Insights

Member

Members are standard users within the organization.

Members can:

  • Invite users with the Member or Free Observer role

  • View or edit Accountability Chart drafts when granted access

Members cannot:

  • Create Accountability Chart drafts

  • Publish Accountability Charts

  • View the "All Meetings" tab

  • See all meeting items in the organization in Insights

  • Create Proccess Documents

Free Observer

Free Observers are non-paying users with limited, view-only access.

Free Observers can:

  • Be added as meeting attendees

  • Be assigned meeting items

  • Complete the Organizational Checkup

  • View content they have access to

Free Observers cannot:

  • Join live meetings

  • Resolve assigned items independently

  • Invite users

Accountability Chart Access

Accountability Chart access is managed through a combination of user roles and draft permissions.

  • Owners and Admins can create Accountability Chart drafts.

  • Managers and Members can be granted View or Edit access to Accountability Chart drafts.

  • Only Owners and Admins can publish Accountability Charts.

  • Live Accountability Charts are visible throughout the organization.

V/TO Access

V/TO visibility is managed separately through V/TO sharing and visibility settings.

Where do I manage user roles?
